Welcome to the weekend!  It kind of blows my mind that we have only two more weekends until we are in Hawaii… and my body does not feel prepared.  I have been working at a pretty fast pace lately and attending after-work events at least 3x a week which means my exercise habits have fallen down the gutter. Not to fear, I’m kicking it in high gear next week so that I can feel confident living in a swimsuit for a week, with my collection of coverups of course (more on that here in case you missed the post about my love affair for cute coverups!).

Can we talk about my new velvet scrunchie (in the first photo)!?  So when I was in the fifth grade, I had a lavender floral scrunch + matching top combo from the Gap that I was all about.  Somewhere down the road the shirt was tossed, but the scrunchie has escorted me through high school, college and my now married life.  Along this road, sure I’ve had haters criticize my bedtime beauty accessory, but no comment could ever break up this love affair.  I always say I have hair like a six-year-old – it’s really fine, straight as a board and creases extremely easy.  For this reason the scrunchie will always be my bedtime companion.  Thanks to my friends at Twistband I have now upgraded from my fifth grade selection to this sleek black beauty. One day you guys will get an action shot of my scrunchie love – I shall not deny you of this pleasure.

Who else has a 1998 beauty/fashion accessory they cannot live without? I kind of feel like my scrunchie is on par with like… your jr. high retainer or something (mine was tie-dye so cool).  Thank y’all so much for reading and having a beautiful weekend!! XO –

  1. I honestly thought I was one of the last people on earth to still own/use a scrunchie!! LOL!! This makes me feel so much better!!!
Love your blog, so proud of you!!! I’m living vicariously through you! 🙂
    Have a great weekend! XO

    1. Scrunchie lovers unite!!! Thank you so much for your sweet words and support, Sara! XO

  2. I wore clipis in college – and I graduated a year ago! I have been wanting them to make a come back forever! Love the scrunchie, too!

  3. I don’t have much to add to your post besides the fact that if you need to work out to go to Hawaii, then I don’t even know what I need to be doing. Hashtag nobody wants to see this in a bikini.

And for your CBL fix: Here is Sarah Jessica Parker giving Tom Hanks the bitch face. It’s beautiful: http://www.runningoffthereeses.com/2015/03/27/15-thing-friday-36/

Scroll down to #11. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve watched it this morning. It never gets old.

  4. Absolutely love that scrunchie! Seriously excited that they’re making a comeback, I’ll be picking some up myself. My hair is super straight and super fine as well and actually tends to fall out easily when I put it up, so scrunchies are perfect for me.

  5. Oh my gosh that latte spoon is the cutest! I need it in my life!
You keep doing your thing with your scrunchie…I think that’s awesome! 🙂

  6. Your scrunchie cracks me up and I love that you rock it! Every time I see one It reminds me of the Sex and the City episode when Carrie and Burger get into an argument about the lady wearing one at the bar. Such an awkward/funny scene. Anyways, have a great weekend, happy I got to see ya last night.

    XO,
    Lindsey

  7. Love those scrunchies! Man, I never thought I’d see the day they made a comeback (I’ve seriously loved them for years) and I LOVE that they are coming back on the radar now! YES!! My 90s self is so happy. And I can’t even get over how perfect your Blair Waldorf mug is – it would make the most amazing gift for my sister! She is obsessed with all things Blair! xo

    1. So I confess I haven’t had the courage to wear the scrunchie out of my house – but I do love that this one is black so it definitely blends in more than my 5th grade lavender scrunchie!! And you need the mug for your precious sister! Blair is fabulous. 🙂 XO

  8. Definite stalking today, but my sisters were talking about how much they love our old babysitter’s blog so I had to check it out!! Just wanted to let you know that scrunchies are coming back into style here in MS, so you wouldn’t feel too old. We miss you and hope to see you soon! Love your blog!

    1. Aaww Mallory you have made my WEEK! Sweetest comment ever – I love my memories of babysitting you guys! The three cutest sisters in the world. So incredibly impressed and proud of what incredible young gals you have all become. Love your family!! XO PS – I’m gonna need to see you in a scrunchie!
