Surf and Sand Laguna Beach

with my blogger besties Haute off the Rack, My Style Diaries & A Pinch of Lovely

I recently saw this post of one of my longtime favorite bloggers and I loved the concept of making a to-do list for the summer.  It’s easy to have a fun summer in Southern California because there is always so much going on, but by making an actual list it puts my hopes and goals in a much more realistic place.

The most challenging on this list? #3, #4, #9 and #10.  Oy.

1.  Pick watermelon at Tanaka Farms.

2. Spend a full day reading at the beach watching Christian surf.

3. Organize the garage so Christian can squeeze his car in on late nights at the hospital (we’ve had a car towed at 3AM after our neighborhood ran out of spots… good times!).

4. Finish redesigning our guest bedroom and share the grand reveal (!!).

5. Spend a lazy weekend in Palm Springs.

6. Have high tea at Paris in a Cup.

7.  Paddleboard on the harbor.

8. Have a picnic and listen to the summer concerts in our neighborhood.

9.  Spend one day a week without touching the computer.

10.  The inevitable goal… to wake up early with Christian in the mornings.

What are some of your summer goals!?

  1. I love your to do list Kathleen! It’s great to have goals to remind you of all the things you want to accomplish at the beginning of the season! As we are in winter now here in Australia, I have a winter to do list! I’ve already ticked two things off my list 🙂 good luck with yours – especially 3 and 9! They would be my biggest challenge I think!

  2. Love the list! I’m hoping to spend some time in the sun this summer (with sunscreen)! I spent the whole weekend last weekend without touching my phone, and it was amazing!

    1. Oh my gosh I need to be more like you. A weekend without a phone sounds amazing – I locked my phone away for our entire honeymoon!

  3. When I saw this it totally made my day because I ALWAYS make a Summer goal list but everyone thinks I am crazy when I tell them haha. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one out there who does this! For this Summer my goals of things to do are: Aquarium of the Pacific, movie on the beach, a lazy day by the pool, Griffith Observatory at sunset, and go to Santa Monica Pier. Hopefully I will be able to do everything but it’s always hard with work and school.

  4. Ahh #9! That one is always on my to-do list. And I love summer to-do list idea! I need to give this a shot. I definitely want to kayak this summer and take a family vacation to the beach (heading that way this weekend). Other than that, I’m free. I will have to think about this!
