It’s finally here!  Y’all have been asking and I’m excited to share our new home with all of you.  We downsized a pretty good bit…so we sadly had to limit what we brought with us from our Mississippi home.  Those of you who saw the Mississippi house tour will definitely recognize things!  We have only been here for a couple of weeks, and I have to say I’m pleased with how we’ve settled into our new place.  We feel blessed and fortunate to call this golden state home.

I really wanted to paint the walls an eggshell white, but since we think we will only be in this apartment for one year, Christian we didn’t want to go to the trouble only to have to paint them yellow again for the next tenant.  So buttery yellow it is!

So come on in and tell me what you think –

Enter into the bedroom…

Paper rose wreath tutorial here.  All of my heels are housed on a shoe rack on the back of the bedroom door!  My personal goal was not to have to use the hanging rack…but I quickly realized it was a necessity or I would never be able to open my closet doors without being pummeled by clothing falling out.  I told myself it wasn’t so bad since I also hung all of Christian’s suits on the hanging rack…right?  Clearly we BOTH need the extra hanging space…

Christian says our bedroom is the “new hair & makeup room.”  This might be true.  You tell me.

And our sweet patio!  We also store the washer & dryer in the patio closet, which is worth mentioning because all I had to do was go without a washer & dryer for two weeks to greatly appreciate our new stackable beauty.  Every time I do laundry I’m smiling, and that’s no lie.

Hope you enjoyed a peek into our new home!  We are still working on getting some patio furniture and small touches here and there, but we are happy to be feeling comfortable in our surroundings again.

Thanks so much for reading and please feel free to give me any suggestions!!  My home is always a work in progress. Since we only have one ceiling fixture in the entire apartment (and it’s our only ceiling fan no less!), I don’t have anywhere for my eBay chandelier – the horror!!!  I will definitely be finding a spot for that treasure in our next home – it’s mandatory.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  XO –

    1. Yes it’s the Ikea Vittsjo – we picked it up down the street for only $70!! I liked the simplicity and obviously that price is hard to beat. I’m still considering putting two units side by side – I’ve seen that some on Pinterest and it looks fab. Go for it!!

  1. It looks so cute!! My husband and I just moved recently and I’m in the process of decorating…definitely may be stealing a few ideas!

  2. Kathleeeeen!! It looks great!! So bright and happy, just like Cali and just like YOU! Love you can’t wait to come visit!!!! Happy early birthday btw….

  3. Love all of your décor!! Where did you get the large mirror in your bedroom???

    1. My mom found this from a local furniture store in my hometown. I have seen some great mirrors at Home Goods before though!

  4. I adore all of the little details and overall look of the place! Glad that you are getting settled in your new surroundings-can’t wait to hear about all of your new adventures!

  5. Everything looks SO great! I am so impressed, we’ve been in our apartment together since January and it still isn’t decorated! I love your style, I pinned so many great ideas from this post!

    1. I’m so glad!! I feel like I can’t get settled until I decorate…but that could also be because I’m unemployed. 🙂 Thank you so much for reading! XO –

  6. I don’t think I could gush enough about how much I love it! SO CUTE!

  7. Yay! I was curious as to how you’d squeeze all that style into a smaller dwelling (condo here) lol Looks great!

  8. Hi! I LOVE your blog! My fiance and I are moving onto a small apartment once we are married in September. Where did you get that clothes rack? I have been looking for one in a similar style – our new place has one closet – EEK!

    THANKS!

  9. I LOVE every detail in your house! Want to know my favorite though?.. All of the Oxford signs I see hanging around? Those are my favorite. Can’t wait to get back there!!!

  10. OKAY, adorable. Come to NC and decorate for me please? I may never share our now out of embarrassment, well, that and I can’t seem to take a good picture. What’s your indoor photog. secrets?

Did you guys rent a storage unit back home for the five years? We had to ditch so much stuff too. From a townhouse to an apt. = not much storage space and one less bedroom. Ugh!

    1. I would LOVE to! I think the indoor photog secret is just more natural light – more more more. Open the windows, doors – it makes a huge difference!

We actually sold a lot on Craigslist and stored some things in my parent’s house. The rest came with us. Christian has never lived in an apartment…so it’s definitely new for him! I can’t wait to see y’alls place!

  11. Your blog is great! I started following you after reading your article in VIP. Your LV vintage suitcase is TDF – did you replace the vachetta?

    1. Welcome! So glad you checked out the blog! Yes this suitcase needed some big TLC and has a few little tears and worn spots you can’t see in the photo. The leather was ripped in several places and we replaced it. It makes me want to give my neverfull a facelift!

  12. This is a great article. I love these apartment furniture displayed in the images above. I like staying in hotels or apartments that have nice furniture and appliances like this apartment. However, it is hard to find these living situations hard during short period stays. When working in Charlotte, I decided to research Charlotte furnished apartments on the internet to see if the city had any options. Thank god I did because STAY was so great. They accommodate so many stay situations, from business to pleasure. All the rooms come fully furnished and also offer extra supplies and luxury items that you would not find in other hotels.

  13. Love the headboard! Just wondering, is it a king or a queen sized headboard? I was looking online at the Horchow website, but I’d like to make sure because I think your room looks perfect!

  14. How on earth did you get your husband to agree to decorating like this? My hubs would never! Its so cute. Looks like a girls apartment more so than a couples apartment. I wish!

  15. Just stumbled on your blog via Pinterest and I’m SO glad I did! I have been searching for a bar cart type piece for our new apartment and I love the height of yours! All I have been seeing is shorter versions which I did not like at all, but was this a store find? And if so, where??? Thanks for sharing!

    1. Welcome – so glad you stumbled along! This tall bar actually came from a junk store in my family’s hometown and we repainted it. I wish I knew where it was from!!

  16. I love the headboard, but I LOVE the simple bedding too. Where did you get the bedding with the initial pillows? I love the gold trim and the gold blanket/throw?!? at the bottom of the bed. Just let me know. And thanks for your blog and for always being so generous in giving out where you get your finds! I love that!

  17. I am obsessing over your tea towels! Where did you find them? I would love to get a California one.
