– a balcony sunset that I could’ve watched for hours –

This week went by in a blur.  I was actually listening to a podcast on the way to work this week and the interviewee was saying, “you know how a year felt like SO long when you were younger and now it feels like no time at all?”  I was all (insert praise hands emoji), right?  California looks and feels almost the exact same every day of the year, so it’s like Groundhog Day over here.  When I stop to think about the fact that we’ve almost lived here two years, my jaw practically drops.  I want to do a Zack Morris and freeze time so I can stop to enjoy the days rather than breezing through them!  #firstworldproblems

Moving on, this weekend Christian and I plan to slow down.  We’ve been getting home at 9PM or later, and Christian has stayed up late working while waking up at 4:30AM to head to the hospital.  The poor guys is a walking zombie, so we’re going to put all those “to do’s” on hold and have a major breakfast in bed Saturday and wander over to do some strawberry picking at a local farm in the afternoon.  I haven’t started off a Monday feeling refreshed and revamped in quite a while – so that’s this weekend’s mission!

How do you slow down when you’re feel like the Tasmanian Devil (am I the only one who uses that reference when I’m feeling spastic)?  I’d love to hear.  Thank you guys always for reading and sharing – I love your comments! XO-

  1. Gosh, I know what you mean. My favorite high school teacher always warned us that as we get older time passes more quickly. I didn’t believe him at the time but WOW it is so true. Definitely a reminder to savor every moment. I hope you both get the rest you need and feel refreshed on Monday! I need it too.

  2. I completely agree.. time just flies by as an adult. I think it has a lot to do with as children, what do we really do?? We just wake each day and live. In the summers we would hang out all afternoon playing in the neighborhood and as long as we checked in from time to time we were all good. As an adult, we have so much responsibility that we are rushing to everything, everywhere that time slips by us so fast. I hate it. I miss being a kid when my big plan for the day was checking the weather to see if is was warm enough to go lay out in the back yard all day listening to music and not having a care in the world. Those were the days…. (sung like Archie & Edith Bunker LOL).

    1. That’s a really good point. In my childhood my summer days were filled with bike rides to the Country Club and wondering if I should order chicken tenders or a grilled cheese for lunch. The days!!

  3. I’m envisioning the same type of weekend! Things have been so go go go lately that I’m welcoming the free weekend. That sunset is breathtaking!

  4. tasmanian devil is such a good word for how i feel sometimes!! it’s always the hardest at those times, but for me i just have to put everything down and go read a book in bed. always makes me feel better!

hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

    1. Love that. I’m almost done with the Andy Cohen Diaries and I’ve been trying to read in bed instead of watch TV. Have a great weekend yourself, sister!! XO

  5. I totally know what you mean about time flying by. I have another birthday approaching and it gives me anxiety about where the last year has gone! But back to your post… I always love your Friday Five posts because it’s just such a fun, positive little wrap-up going into the weekend! I love that swimsuit (I’ve been thinking about buying one from there), and that sunset is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen!

    Have a wonderful weekend!
