I know that most of the styled posts that are featured here are with full makeup, styled hair and a complete look, but sometimes it’s nice to take it back a few steps and have some real talk.  I don’t always have 45 minutes to get ready. In fact, I usually spend about 15 minutes getting ready and it goes a little something like this –

Unstyled hair in a ponytail or top knot with a little bronzer, blush, concealer and lip balm.  If I have the time for mascara – awesome, if not, I curl my lashes and grab some cute sunglasses and head out the door. This look was from Sunday when I did just this and pulled out a “hero” piece I wanted to wear – the trench vest (only $40!).  From there I decided on a crisp pair of white denim shorts and was torn between a tee or chambray top.  Ultimately I chose the chambray (because it’s crazy soft and comfortable), threw on some booties that go with everything and voila! Instant outfit.

A simple beauty routine + choosing a hero piece and dressing around it is almost always how I get dressed day-to-day, and I thought it would be fun to share a more casual (and realistic) post with you guys!

  3. Love seeing the more casual everyday outfit – it’s super similar to what I try to do every day too. I’d much rather have my extra 20 minutes of sleep and do a simple and easy routine while getting ready! Love this look, too!

  5. I absolutely love everything you put together, but I think this is my favorite one! I honestly think every blogger I follow, puts on a full face of makeup everyday or makes it look like they do! I don’t think I look this pulled together (fave wise) in the 30+ mins it takes me hahaha. I think I need to go invest in this vest (!! Hahaha). But, I would love to see more ‘dress down/more casual looks’ on the blog.

  13. Kathleen, I haven’t ever commented but have read your blog for over 3 years now. This was the post I had to pipe up and say- you’re gorgeous! I like blogs for inspiration, ideas, and ways to keep on the pulse of fashion outside the Midwest :). It’s refreshing to see things “the way they are” because it makes things tangible- easier to try for the normal gal. You look fantastic every day- this day especially. Thank you! 🙂

  19. I totally agree! A simple beauty look is my daily staple routine. I think when people see me {like on snapchat} before/during shoots, they’re like that girl looks like a drag queen…but day-to-day, I typically have 10 minutes to get ready, yet somehow always manage to fill in my eyebrows #priorities. Love this look on you pretty lady!
