Friday’s Five

– the most interesting and fun plant in our neighbor’s yard –

– Mom accidentally packed one of Lula’s recovery crop tops in her suitcase, so like any artist would, she bedazzled it and mailed it back to us –

– sequined scalloped pillows my Mom bought for us when she was in town – obsessed! –

 

– a beautiful rainbow of macaroons –

I’ve been in Chicago for the majority of the week and am actually enjoying the true February cold! Christian can vouch that I was actually rooting for Hartford, Connecticut for his residency match – he knows I love the East Coast.  God had His own plan bringing us out West and it’s been amazing to see what life is like in Southern California.  I certainly cannot complain, but I must admit it’s a real treat to travel to Chicago so often for work.  Even with the polar vortex, I love Chicago and the incredibly kind people from the Midwest.

Thank you so much for your local suggestions!! I truly appreciate it and loved trying new places.  We have had some amazing meals and have had a really had a great time.  I look forward to sharing some photos with y’all in the next few weeks!

Today I’m flying back to California and cannot wait to see my girls (Bailey and Lula).  And of course my guy.  Time to do some laundry, upload some photos and sleep in my own bed!  Although snuggling up in the fluffy beds at the Thompson Hotel was nothing to complain about.

  1. I LOVE those chairs!! Where are they from?? Love the pillows as well, but I am about to buy some chairs like that for our living room and those are fantastic and pretty much what I am looking for 🙂

    I love Chicago as well, both my cousins live there and my family is Midwestern (all Michiganders :)), but we used to live in Southern Cal, and now Charlotte, NC but Chicago and the Midwest is amazing!! Granted, I don’t think I would trade SoCal weather for Chi-town weather 😉 Happy Friday!!

  5. It’s so fun to move around, isn’t it? I’m from the South, too, and then moved to California for 7 years. What a culture shock, but SO fun. And now we just moved to the midwest. Man, these folks are friendly! I have to admit: in Cali, no one would walk into my yard and introduce themselves. In the midWest, I’ve received house warming gifts! So kind 🙂

  6. Love the chairs and pillows. Love the combination of colors and the design of the pillows. Its unique but classy. This is why I love moving around for I got to buy new and modern stuffs for the new home.
