Newport Beach Sunset

One of my favorite things to do with Christian on the weekend is go to the beach.  While California as a whole is very pet-friendly, a lot of the beaches only allow dogs at certain hours of day (which I totally understand, as my dog is a total wild woman).  Newport allows dogs after 4:30pm, which means Bailey gets weekly beach walks during the summer and spring after work.

Dana Point and Newport Beach have my favorite Orange County beaches… but Queen B loves the ocean.  Now that it’s darker earlier, she hasn’t been getting her weekly fix, so C and I took her for a joyride. Her excitement level is something else. I feel like she acts like we keep her locked in the basement and her beach visits are her only time for fresh air in months.  It’s not embarrassing at all… false.  It’s way embarrassing. BUT, I love this quote from Ryan Adams, “There is nothing wrong with loving the crap out of everything. Negative people find their walls. So never apologize for your enthusiasm. Never. Ever. Never.”  So Bailey – you win, girlfriend!

I have to wear a swimsuit around Bailey because she loves to walk up to me and shake her salty water and sand all over me.  So I layered some loose-fitting pants and a crocheted cardigan over this super fun Triangl bikini for a put-together beach look.

  1. Oh I just love this look! I have major pants envy right now, and that bikini is perfection! I’m a huge fan of sunsets, but I also really love sunrise. I love those mornings when I’m up to see the sun rise (only during the Australian winter as the sun is up at 4.30 in the summer!). I just find it so calming and peaceful! Xo

    1. I love a good sunrise, I wish that was motivation to get me out of bed!! You go girl – I am aspiring to that!

  3. When I am fortunate to be at a beach (we live in Houston!) sunset is my favorite time of the day. We always go to South Florida for spring break and look forward watching the sunsets at one of our favorite beach spots 😉 Love your look at that crystal of yours.

  7. Hi! How do you like the fit of the triangl bottoms? It’s hard to tell from their website what the coverage is like on the suit you have.

    1. I would say the coverage is pretty full, but they run small so I would recommend sizing up one size from your usual size. I tend to prefer tie bottoms, but I do like the thickness of these. It’s almost like it sucks you in a little more, if that makes sense.

  8. Do you go to Newport often? My friends and I are taking a girls trip there next weekend and we have NO idea what to do or where to go!

    1. No way! What made you pick Newport!? The beaches are great, Balboa and Fashion Island are great. You could rent a little duffy boat on the harbor which would be fun. You should take a little trip down to Laguna for the day – it’s so cute!

      2. We wanted somewhere within driving distance, none of us had really been there before, and are all burnt out on the beach that closest to us! We’ve heard Fashion Island, so we’ll definitely do that- and were thinking of going into Laguna- so that’s fun! I’ll have to look into the Duffy boat- thanks! We rented a little place near the water- so we’re all excited to escape the kids and husbands for a weekend 🙂
