carrie bradshaw lied

If you give me a reason to go glam, I’ll take it there.  When I was younger, I would change clothes multiple times a day until my mom would tell me, “this is the last one! This is your last outfit today.”  Born this way.  One of my favorite birthday gift memories was a bag full of older lady hats, gloves, glasses, etc. that my mom bought second-hand at an estate sale for me to play dress-up in. Brilliant!

SO, all of that to be said – I love a reason to get dressed up and this Lulu’s two-piece set is bringing the ooh-la-la in a big way.  I love the contrast in the flouncy top and fitted skirt, and something about it feels formal enough without being over the top.

Would you guys wear something like this to a black tie holiday event, and do any of you actually have a black tie event to attend this month? I’m jealous – you guys know we’re so casual for everything out here in California!

Thanks so much for reading – hope you guys are having a beautiful week, and don’t forget to enter yesterday’s outfit giveaway! XO –

  1. Oooooooo – girl can wear a DRESS!! You look gorj-wah, just perfect! Classic in black, yet also edgy, different, fun.

And yup, I’d def wear this to a black tie event!

    1. Thank you for the love, Ann! I don’t wear fitted stuff that often, so I appreciate the confidence boost! Hugs to you XO –

  2. Hi! Do you mind sharing what size is pictured? I would like to order but am trying to decide on what size I should get. Thank you!!

    1. I’m wearing my normal size and I would say it’s fitted. If you want the skirt fitted, go with your normal size – if not, I would recommend sizing up. Hope that helps!

  3. Oh gosh this reminds me of when I had to get my mum and dad from a ball my dad’s company was invited to. I had to pick them up and everyone was dressed to the 9’s!! I didn’t know that I was going to have to go into the hotel to get them ( I was wearing jeans and a jumper) I wish that I’d have worn something like this.
It would have been so much better and I cold have stayed and partied 🙂
    Thanks for the amazing post1

    1. I love this story – sounds like something I would totally do! And your UK “mum,” seriously – can I move in? You’re adorable. Thank you for sharing! XO

    1. Thank you pretty lady! I tried curling it in a more “beachy” way than normal and I feel like I got way more lift – go figure!

  4. Is your midsection definitely showing in this dress? On the website it looks like it but yours doesn’t. I love it and would love to get it for Mardi Gras but I can’t have anything hanging out! Haha, thanks!

    1. Mine isn’t really, but I think t depends on body type, how tall you are and how long your torso is. I’m 5’7″ and I think I have a pretty long torso if that helps at all!
