how to style a floral midi skirt

I love styling midi skirts because I think they’re so fun and flirty – you can see similar skirt stylings from previous posts here, here and here. This ensemble felt so Carrie Bradshaw-esque that you know I couldn’t help myself (insert praise hands emoji)!  I think I was subconsciously channeling Carrie’s outfit in this scene with the studded belt.  Something about pairing the feminine floral with the edgier belt felt like such a perfect pairing of my Mississippi and California style.

Today I’m sharing how you can shop this look on this blog, my social media and through Piccing.  Piccing is the first lifestyle shopping experience built on a visually-driven social platform that gives shoppers globally the tools to access and purchase multiple items through an image.  This could be anyone from a celebrity to your girlfriend!  All you have to do is create a free account, upload an image and “picc” up to five shoppable items associated with the image.

They already have 80 million members, which means more styled images to peruse and shop. You can check out my profile here, as well as Piccing’s blog here.  Their blog helps give more insight into how Piccing works and features the users they “cherry picc” they highlight.

  1. Hopefully this isn’t too personal, but I’m curious what you’re wearing to hold up the ladies under that shirt. It has an interesting cut along the arms and chest and looks like it might be lower in the back. Are you using a strapless or those stick-ons? I’m always looking for options to support mah girls when a top with a non-traditional cut won’t allow for a traditional bra.

Yes, I feel a little bit like a creeper asking that question of someone I do not know. But, knowing this is technically a business, you might consider discussing undergarments when appropriate. In this case, inquiring minds want to know because strapless bras can be the devil. (And at this point, I’m kind of hoping there’s an answer because it will get into awkward territory if the answer is nothing because it’s a photo shoot and styling. Oy. Girl, I need more coffee.)

    1. Hi Nicole! Ok this has to be one of the funniest comments to date. So if you can’t tell, I don’t have much to write home about, so I wear sticky petals for nearly everything in the summer. I tend to have a lot of trouble with strapless bras falling down, so the petals are my go-to. I hope this helps!

      1. I gotta tell ya, that was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever written. How do you ask someone you’ve never met to share their “support” tricks? A little weird, right?

I appreciate the conversation, though. I’ve considered some of the adhesive bras and covers in the past but it always seemed weird to me, like someone took a one of those wacky sticky hands from a grocery store vending machine and turned it into a bra.

I guess, thanks for taking one for the team! I may have to give the old adhesive bra a try.

  2. Ahh! The scene you posted is in my top 3 FAVE outfits behind A) the simple white dress with the gold ray bans and heels and B) the other appearance of that awesome belt in this movie when she’s in the all black with the black hat looking Halloween Chic (if that is a thing).
Thank you for posting, I have been searching for inspiration and found it! I bought the skirt for my brother and soon-to-be sis in law’s upcoming rehearsal dinner this month, yay!

    xo

  3. I have this same skirt and styled it for Valentine’s Day with a red sweater and absolutely loved it! This is perfect inspiration for upcoming events like baby showers and weddings etc. I need to get my hands on a similar belt! So cute. I love when pieces can work for more than one occasion!
    Xoxo,
    Allie

    1. I love that!! Oh yes sister, you can pair this rockstud belt with much more than you think!
