urban decay eyeshadow palette

About a month ago I shared my back-to-school beauty favorites, and I loved hearing all of your feedback (and your own favorites), so I thought it was time for some fall picks!

I’ve gotten some crazy fabulous fall mailers that I am so excited about – and a lot of it is lipstick (because you know I am a lover of a great lip). Today I’m sharing some of my favorites from Urban Decay, L’Oreal and Smashbox –

LIPS:

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Palettes – for the bold lip girl, this palette is for you! Each palette has a dozen shades from the massive Vice collection, so no matter what kind of mood you’re in, this kit has it all. I really love this palette for travel (it will 100%  be in my NYFW beauty bag).

L’oreal Exclusive Colour Riche Privee Collection – love love love! Six L’Oreal Ambassadors customized their ideal lip shade, and you can choose between JLo, Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Liya Kebede, Blake Lively and Doutzen Kroes.  My personal favorite nude in the lineup would be Eva’s (sun-kissed nude) and for a little more color I really love JLo’s (a deeper berry shade).

Urban Decay’s Vintage Capsule Collection – this lineup is bringing back nine of UD’s original lip shades from 20 years ago – very cool! When I worked in social media for Urban Decay, fans would ask about these shades ALL of the time, particularly Oil Slick (a sheer black) and Pallor (a really flattering lavender gray). I’m so excited to play with these!

EYES:

L’Oreal Volumious Primer Mascara – a great primer is an essential for me. I use one daily!  This one is nice and thick and just one coat under a mascara really does wonders for creating thicker lashes.

Urban Decay’s Naked Ultimate Basics – I use my Naked1 and 2 Basics palettes every single day. I use them for my eyeshadow as well as my brows, and sometimes even to contour! I love matte shades, and this matte eyeshadow palette contains 12 brand new must-have neutrals. This palette is neutral enough for all skin tones, and I know it’s currently sold out but keep tabs on this baby because trust me, you need it.

COMPLEXION:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer – I know I’ve blogged about this before here, but it’s because it’s the best. And I’m not the only one who thinks so – it’s won numerous awards and has over 5k reviews on Sephora.com. This formula fills in lines and helps to make your foundation or beauty balm go on so silky smooth – it’s like a real-life airbrushed filter. For your face. All day.

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation – designed to last for 15 hours (that’s no joke), this foundation is the kind you wear for long days when you need to look great from sunrise to sunset.  I’ll be wearing it to NYFW for sure, and it’s lightweight enough that it doesn’t cake like so many foundations do.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil – I’ve been so excited to try this! This is a blend of 15 essential and plant oils that moisturize the face and create that dewy, youthful skin we all want. This primer sits on top of your skin to smooth its texture, while it absorbs directly into the skin to hydrate and boost moisture. This is good stuff (and good for you!).

Urban Decay UD Pro Brushes – these brushes are cruelty-free and the handles are from recycled aluminum. Synthetic brush hair doesn’t hold onto bacteria the way animal hair can, so synthetic brushes are not only easier to clean, but also more hygienic for your face (which you should always treat like gold!). Some of my must-haves: the contour definition, finger brush and the eyeshadow brush.

Have you guys tried any of these products? I’d love to hear what you think! And if your a lipstick lover, please look into some of these lip shades. I think you will love them – the formulas are so rich and nourishing, I’m so excited about pulling out some darker shades for fall!

Thanks so much for reading – hope you guys had a wonderful long weekend! XO –

  1. Per usual, I love the post! I’d definitely give the UD Vice Lipstick Palette a try! Bold lips always make me feel more confident and put together on days I’m not feeling so great!

    1. Such a great point. I think if you have minimal time to do your makeup, a simple mascara and bold lip pulls everything together!

  2. You can’t go wrong with that photo finish primer! I wear that one almost every day or I’ll use the Too Faced Hangover primer which I loooove! I’ll have to try those L’Oreal lipsticks, the colors look gorg <3

  3. I’ve been using the L’Oreal voluminous mascara since I first started wearing mascara in middle school so I was so excited when they came out with a primer and it did not disappoint! By far my fave mascara. And I’ve been on the hunt for a good foundation for a while, so I’m excited to take your advice and try Smashbox!

    1. I didn’t realize it had been out that long! It is definitely a great mascara. Yes the Smashbox is great – I also love Urban Decay’s “One and Done!”

  4. Hi Kathleen! This is my first time reading your product reviews on beauty and I have to say it is just what type of post I’m looking for!! One question…is the oil primer as good as the regular primer or would you say one needs to use both?
Thanks so much for the post and I will definitely keep coming back for these (good beauty reviews are hard to find!)

    1. I’m so glad to hear that – thank you for sharing the feedback! I would recommend using one or the other. I like to wear the gel primer before applying the foundation but I will mix the oil with my foundation (that’s just me personally). So I think I would recommend trying the gel first – it really is magic!
