cream crop top and skirt

When I was in New York, we stayed at the Nomo Soho and there were the most incredible cobblestone streets all around us! I usually opt to stay in Midtown when I travel to New York, not only because it’s where I lived the summer I lived in the city, but also because it’s always a little more quiet and a little less busy.

This time we wanted to be downtown, close to the venues hosting the shows, and I had so much fun exploring Soho and Chelsea. I remembered more than I thought I would (I’m not the best navigating downtown, although I really do love all the character of the different neighborhoods), and it was hard to say goodbye!

Not to worry, I’m heading back in December – and I plan to spend a little less time primping and little more time exploring.

Hey Friday! It feels so good to have had a full week at home, getting settled back into the swing of things and only going to one event (which meant no makeup on most days, so refreshing) so I could catch up on work.  I am the kind of person of feels almost out of control when I feel behind… part of my OCD nature.  It keeps me organized, but it also means I lack the ability to be spontaneous and carefree. The balance between the two is something I’m always trying to work on!

In other news, this website has brought me unlimited joy this week. I literally laughed so hard at the texting video that I snorted. HILARIOUS. A Buzzfeed employee drinks a bottle of wine at work and complains about things that annoy him.  I mean… why didn’t I think of this? I need a reason to drink a bottle of wine at my desk, pronto.

We are going to the Newport Beach Food & Wine Festival this weekend, and I’m so excited Christian can come with. I actually hosted a giveaway for two tickets earlier this week, so fun! If any of you are in the area for the festival, I’d love to meet you!

AND, last but not least I’m excited to announce the winner of the NY & Co giveaway – Amanda Norwood! Thank you so much to everyone who entered.

Y’all have an amaze weekend and thank you so much for reading! XO –

make your own pumpkin spice latte

If you guys remember this post, you know I’ve been a fan of Nespresso for quite some time.  I had my first cup on our honeymoon at Rosewood Mayakoba, and ever since then both Christian and I have been hooked!

I was so honored to be one of the first to try the new Lattissima Touch, and I knew Christian, a macchiato guy, would really love it. This particular machine gives you multiple options for the coffee and milk froth, allowing you to make any kind of latte, macchiato or cappuccino with as much or as little espresso, milk or froth as you would like.  I love how easy this machine is to use and to customize your drink exactly to your (or your guest’s) liking.

SO, I thought why not try to make a Pumpkin Spice Latte at home? I looked up several recipes, and they were all pretty simple.  I used this recipe and I’ve got to say – it was delish. And you use so little of the pumpkin puree that I then made a pumpkin pie… oy vey. I was trying not to be wasteful… right?

fall shopping essentials

I mean… I genuinely want everything in this collage.  These pajamas? Adorable. This anorak (throwback to the GAP anoraks that were an elementary staple)? Super versatile. And these lounging socks – obsessed.

Something about these sunglasses also remind me a little of the Celine pair… do you see it? Before I can add more things to my closet, I need a serious clean-out. Sweaters, jackets, scarves… they hog closet space!

Have any of you scored anything cute for fall? I’d love to hear! Spill it.

nordstrom military coat

When we were in Napa the first night, the evening was so cold that even in the cashmere wrap I brought I was shivering.  You know that first cold night you have after so many warm months? It’s kind of exciting… right? I feel like California has a delayed summer – when most of the country is warm in May and June we are still cool, but July – early October is when the heat really rolls in. So that first night in Napa… it had me dreaming of the cute layers I can’t wait to pull out!

When it comes to coats, you can’t beat the selection at Nordstrom. From scarves to coats to and even ski gear – there’s something for everyone. This coat (that comes in four colors) is the kind of versatile piece that I get the most wear out of, cute, trendy, and a seriously adorbs hood for those windy days. I plan to head back to the East Coast in December and know this coat will be en route!

Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own. And thank you for reading and making these kinds of collaborations possible!

We are wrapping up our road trip with college friends and I have to admit – I’m exhausted!  It was fun to experience the beauty of this state with someone who had never visited California, and Christian and I had so much fun not only being with friends but also exploring new places like Yosemite and Napa Valley (more to come on both!).

We are now finding our way back to home to get caught up and unwind before another work week, and after a few days of computer trouble (which is why I’m getting this post up so late in the day), I think I’m back on the straight and narrow, thanks to the help of my wizard smart husband.  Computer trouble and car trouble – two things that no one ever has time for… am I right!?

A HUGE thank you to all of you who shared your tips and recommendations along the way on Instagram – I love hearing what you guys love and I was reading all of the suggestions aloud to the car. You guys rock!  Hope you have a beautiful weekend – XO –

modern day sex and the city

L to R: A Pinch of Lovely | yours truly | My Style Diaries | Haute off the Rack

When we were in New York for Fashion Week, we were hosted by Oasis Clothing for a fabulous brunch at Sarabeth’s Tribeca.  I’d never been to this location, and I was amazed at how fabulous (and large) the restaurant is!

Before brunch we snapped these photos and you know I got excited feel so Sex and the City-chic! I am amazed at how blogging has introduced me to some girls who are now such close lifelong friends.  We just understand each other on a unique level and it’s such a special relationship to me! And a great reminder of how the Internet can be used for good.  Women supporting women – one of my favorite things to see!

fall-wish-list

I love these basic fall essentials for the next few months – solid neutrals are my go to with great statement accessories like a fringe bag or chunky necklace. Love!

Grey and camel have become my favorite neutral seasonal colors, even more so than black believe it or not. I am trying to introduce more navy into my wardrobe, and I’ve started out with this cute bag.

What are some of the pieces you’re looking to snag this fall? I recently splurged on these boots, but I think these are a great alternative!

The breeze has gotten a little cooler here in Southern California, but it’s definitely not bundling weather yet. I’m bringing out some new fall pieces to incorporate with cooler pieces – like this cashmere scarf and Sofft booties (this pair comes in three colors!) with my everyday denim shorts and Bella Dahl top.

I’m actually really into denim shorts with over-the-knee boots too… do y’all think I’m crazy? I think paired with a big sweater it looks so cute!  Plus it’s great for those of us who live places that don’t get super cold.  Seriously.  Beach days in February are not uncommon here!

Thank you to everyone who followed around my NYFW adventures on Instagram and Snapchat (CBLied)! It was such an inspiring week and I felt so privileged to be a part of it.  I was fortunate to see the Rebecca Vallance and Rachel Zoe presentations and the Marissa Webb, Mara Hoffman, Betsey Johnson, Monique Lhuillier, Lela Rose, Nicole Miller and Sherri Hill runway shows.  I tried to snap each one so all of you could experience it with me!

I was actually seated front row for two shoes and second row for two shows (I felt seriously #blessed), and there was a moment when like a sappy, starry-eyed fashion lover, I had a big lump in my throat.  If you had told me five years ago when I was in Mississippi that I would be sitting at runway shows, representing my blog (of which I never thought more than 15 people would read and I was totally fine with it), I would laugh with disbelief.  I still have butterflies when I think about how fulfilling this blog is to me and how much it means to me that you guys check in each day to experience this journey with me. Thank you thank you thank you for all of your support and love – truly. I’m on a cloud!

Before I change tunes, check out this amazing video my mom and sister sent me where one designer replaced runway models with role models. Definitely made me a little teary – how incredible for this designer to recognize some seriously inspirational women.

We have some of our dearest friends from college (and from childhood for Christian) coming in town this weekend from Virginia. We are going to go on a little California road trip – Yosemite, Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, and then we’ll drop them off at LAX and Christian and I will enjoy some quality time in Malibu. I feel like I just got home – but this is going to be such a fun trip with old friends!

What are you guys up to this weekend? Who has some nice, cool fall weather? We’ve had a few cool days and its been glorious. Thanks so much for reading! XO –

calfhair spotted foldover clutch

Our first morning in the city we saw the Rebecca Vallance presentation (seriously would wear every single piece – adored) and had brunch with Oasis Clothing at Sarabeth’s in Tribeca.  I absolutely loved the way this red skirt floated in the breeze on the overcast day, and it’s a skirt I know will look so fab with over-the-knee boots and a sweater come fall.

And as if that’s not enough, this cobblestone street was the icing on the cake!  Not so easy to walk on but so beautiful and unique to downtown Manhattan. I love it.

flora farms cabo san lucas

L to R: Kystal of A Pinch of Lovely | Jenn of Haute off the Rack | Nikki of My Style Diaries | yours truly

When I first heard about our Cabo trip, I knew I wanted to visit Flora Farm.  It’s a bit of a drive from where we were staying, but I had seen so many photos of this beautiful spot, and if it’s good enough for Adam Levine to get married, then I knew it had to be phenom!

We were given a private tour of the grounds and then were seated for dinner while listening to live music under bistro lights.  I never wanted to leave!  It it truly such a beautiful place to dine if you are ever in the area – I can’t recommend it enough!
