We loved this summer sunhat until we lost it (#sad).
We have these pajamas and they’re as cute as they look.
I just ordered this “H” sweater for Hudson and have been told by friends how precious the Hope & Henry collection is. Take a peek for yourself. Beyond!
You can find all of my kids picks in the CBL Amazon Storefront here, also located under “shop –> Amazon Storefront” at the top of this site. Thank you so much for reading! XO –

As soon as I saw this top in Amazon’s The Drop collection, I snagged it in this color. I later ordered the black too! I love the fit, I think it looks so much more expensive than it is, and I think it is a really versatile top and here’s why –
It looks good with any shade of denim AND it would absolutely work with a mini or midi skirt. I think tops like this look fabulous with silk midi skirts (similar to this look)!
I ordered my usual size, but because the length is shorter I think I could have easily sized up one size for a more comfortable fit. The description says if you’re in between sizes to order up, and I would definitely agree with that.
This top sold out quickly when it was first available. Now that it’s back in stock I would recommend moving fast if you love it because I have no doubts it will sell quickly!
A quick week this week, but welcome to Friday – most of our favorite day! I have had a lighter workload this week, which I’ve been really grateful for. It’s been a really nice time to catch up on a lot of rest, and I’ve been really thankful for that stillness. You’ve got to enjoy it while you’ve got it!
I received a few new pieces this week that I am just really excited about, including these ballet slip ons that are over 50% off, this olive green dress that is going to be so easy breezy comfortable in this heat and this Naghedi tote – my second one (first one here), and I LOVE them! Between these and my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale bill that just arrived this week, sister may need to reel in the shopping. Christian – look away!
This weekend I have no plans, and I’m honestly thrilled about it. I might blow up the backyard pool, play bocce ball with C and Hudson or finally watch In the Heights which has been on my watch list all summer. Promising Young Woman and the recently wrapped White Lotus are my favorite watches of summer so far, hoping to add more to the list.
Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? Have you cooked anything good lately? I’m telling you, I find all of my week’s recipes on tik tok, true story. Y’all don’t sleep on tik tok – there are a lot of good tips and tricks on there!
I have to thank all of you for your incredibly kind words last week about losing a family pet. Many of us have shared this sadness, and while are so blessed to love animals so deeply, it makes it gut wrenching to say goodbye. Thank you for sharing you hearts with me and for all of your beautiful words. Truly.
On a lighter note, sharing some of my top picks in accessories from Amazon. Most of these I already own and love. Let’s get into it!

Y’all know I love these heels. I never stop talking about them, that’s how much I love them. I have them in three colors, and I kind of want the python. So cute!
I have almost bought these heels twice, I love the buckle. Chic.
I have a purse strap almost identical to this one and let me tell you, just buy it. I paid way more for mine but it’s so cute on literally any purse. For $20? You need it.
I have this visor and it’s great for travel because it just rolls up. It’s super easy to pack.
I have these sunglasses in white and matte black, I always say they’re the best $15 you’ll ever spend. I LIVE in them!
I have two of these rings and they’re so sweet. I love that they’re adjustable so they work on any finger.
I live in hair clips and this set is really great. Just as nice as my J.Crew set that’s much more expensive, so that’s a win!
Thanks so much for reading and for more Amazon picks broken down by category, be sure to visit my Amazon storefront here. You can also find it located under “shop” at the top of this site. Last week’s Amazon transitional fall picks are here! XO –

At the beginning of June we said goodbye to our 14-year old Bailey dog, our eldest child and Christian’s first love.We knew her health was heading downhill since last winter but wanted to try a few things, build her some ramps and see if we noticed any decrease in her arthritis pain. It was emotional to nurture her through this process and to be honest, I haven’t been ready to talk about it much. I’m still not ready.
She spent her last weeks eating tomahawk steaks and endless scraps (her heaven!), daily walks to the stop sign which was about all she could handle, most of her time inside in the AC (her preference, of course) and lots of petting and kisses.
Bailey spent her life running around on farm land in Mississippi, being chauffeured twice across the United States, chasing pelicans on the beaches of California, wearing her first snow shoes in Tahoe and visiting the mountains every fall. She swam in lakes and oceans, caught frisbees in the park and visited the Pacific Heights dog park in San Francisco almost daily for a year. She accompanied me to my office most days in a Jeep Wrangler for two years, and as a result her photo was amongst the other HQ office pets on the walls of Urban Decay brick and mortars in Newport Beach, Paris and London (I’ve visited all three to see her face!). We would regularly head to the beach for a walk after work before heading home. She regularly rode in the back of the Jeep, top down on Highway 1.We arguably gave her a better life than we will ever give any pet, and knowing that brought us great peace as we had to say goodbye.
Christian and I huddled around her in her final moments with tears flowing freely down our faces, finding it nearly impossible to say goodbye to the 90 lb yellow lab who imprinted our hearts forever. Her ashes are still in the house in the AC… just as we know she would have wanted.
You may not have a dog for your whole life, but they have you for their whole life. Many of you have asked about her, and I simply can’t talk about it without getting upset. I had to do it in my own time. And it’s still been quite difficult to gather these photos, reminisce on these moments and know she’s not here.
These moments don’t begin to cover what she brought to our lives.Thank you for blessing us with your heart and spirit, Bailey Savannah Scout Barnes. Thank you for being the best big sister we could have hoped for. And thank you for continuing to visit me as the jumbo yellow butterfly that I see all the time in the yard, dancing around me and floating off into the trees.
Please give your three-legged sister, Lula, a big kiss from us across the rainbow bridge.
We miss you.
Thank you so much for loving her like we did. She will always be such a special part of our hearts and memories. XO –
This week’s wish list is a little roundup of pieces from Amazon that can work for this soon-to-be transitional fall season. I don’t know about you, but I am kind of over buying for spring/summer. I want to know that things I purchase can easily adapt for cooler weather or even for still-warm weather when I’m wishing it was cooler!

I recently bought these joggers, these wide leg knit pants and this top in 2 colors (camel and black). Love it, love it, love it! I ordered the pants in my usual size and sized down in the top, but now that I’ve washed the tops I probably should have stuck to my usual size.
I have this dress in blue (shared here), and I’ve contemplated the camel for quite some time. It is such a great fit and looks way more expensive in person than it is!
This set is in my cart and I think it would be a great swimsuit cover up as well. I also think the top would be fab with denim in the fall!
I have two sets of these bracelets and they are my #1 go to. Waterproof, soundproof, lightweight and absolutely worth the price when you realize how much you’ll wear them.
I bought this turtleneck midi dress in green and black and can’t wait to wear them this fall. I did size up one size and would recommend it!
I have these heels in three colors and wear them constantly. Will never not love them – they are the best heels under $50 you’re going to find.
If you have any Amazon Fashion wins lately, I would love to hear! Thanks so much for reading and sharing – XO –

I love my cherished pieces of jewelry that never come off. I have a few rings and a bracelet that stay on sleep, shower, workout, you name it. Yes, I sleep and shower in earrings too! So the more I’ve learned about Yearly Co, it’s exactly the kind of keepsake jewelry that I love. Especially their beautiful, custom sized 14K gold bangles that can be worn 24/7.
And let’s talk more about that custom fit part. Yearly Co offers sizing kits which allow you to determine what your perfect sized bangle is. Brilliant! They recommend the bracelet should be tight but comfortable, which also allows for that 24/7 wear that I love so much.
I love their sentimental brand story (more about that here), and that the entire company was built around creating milestone and celebratory pieces that can be passed down from generation to generation.
dress | heels – no longer available | available room details here
Right now you can get your Yearly Co sizing kit for free with the code KBYEARLY. AND over Labor Day, they’ll be having their very special and rare sale offering 10% off sitewide – so don’t miss out on that!
Thank you so much for reading and if you have any special anniversary or milestone jewelry, I’d love to hear about it! XO –
Back with another Tik Tok recipe I can’t quit. You can find the video here, and I have now made this sauce twice. It elevates any grocery store or homemade dumpling or gyoza. Honestly I will pour it on fried rice, dip egg rolls in it – anythingl
In the video tutorial she says measurements aren’t necessary, and I do agree with her. I just kind of eyeball it and it turns out fantastically. As she says in the video, “you can’t mess this up.” I’ll guesstimate for you guys though based on this most recent batch.
Ingredients:
2-4 cloves chopped garlic
3 green onions (you can add more if you want)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
optional: red pepper flakes, a dash of sugar if you want some sweetness
olive oil (or any oil)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except the oil. Heat the oil over the stove and then pour the hot oil on mixture, let sizzle. Once cooled, dip your dumpling, gyoza, egg roll, you name it and enjoy!
If you try it, let me know what you think! I’ll never be eating Chinese food without it, that’s for sure. Thanks so much for reading and you can find more of my favorite easy recipes under “home –> food & drink” at the top of this site. XO –
– some summer polka dots that are easy breezy and perfect for this warm weather (dress | top – Iorane) –
Another glorious Friday, we meet again! The temperatures have been way more manageable this week which has been so nice. I know not to take it for granted because I think it’s going to be heating up again soon. I don’t know that I’m ready for it, but I always have my inflatable pool nearby.
I don’t have much planned for the weekend, and I have no problem with that. I’m looking forward to a lot of lounge time and some takeout. I mean… is there anything better than a relaxing weekend?
I will be sharing a dumpling sauce recipe next week that I can’t wait to talk more about because it’s that good. I shared it on social media, but I’ve now made it twice and can’t get enough. Another recipe I can’t get enough of is this prosciutto arugula wrap from Leanne Barlow. So few ingredients and so much flavor!
I hope you have a beautiful weekend, thank you so much for reading! XO –
Commando Faux Leather Leggings | These are so elongating and comfortable. They give this vertical shine that certainly makes your legs look longer. Runs snug but I would still recommend ordering your usual size.
Seamless Hipster Underwear | I am floored that you guys have been loving this underwear as much as I do. They are included in this sale every year, and I always buy multiple pairs. One size fits sizes 2-10 and I literally bought $100 of underwear this year. Treat yourself to good underwear, #worthit.
V-Neck Bralette | I bought this bra last year and it has this wider back which smoothes out your body so there are no back bulges. You read that right. It’s a magical, wire-free bra that I couldn’t stop wearing. This year I ordered two of the spaghetti strap version and love them too! Not as back smoothing as this one, but still great.
Waterproof Combat Boot | These are exact, but they’re $60 (a steal!) and pretty dang close. I LOVED these last year and will definitely be wearing them often this fall and winter.
Spanx Faux Leather Joggers | I’ve had these joggers for a little less than a year and they are so comfortable and so chic. They look just as great with sneakers and have front pockets that make them ultra versatile. Run TTS!
Polka Dot Drawstring Midi Dress | I recently shared this dress in a blog post here, but it is SO cute and would be perfect for the office, church, a bridal/baby shower, etc. It’s under $30 and comes in a lot of colors. Runs on the looser side so you can order your usual size for a looser fit (which is what I did), or size down!
Classic Navy Blazer | I sized up one size and would recommend sizing up. So classic, never out of style and makes any denim + tee combo look a little extra chic.
Red Polka Dot Halter Dress | Runs TTS and comes with belt (you can also ditch the belt!). Assortment of colors and really pretty.
$36 Waffle Knit Set | I sized up one size for a looser fit. Comes in lots of colors – I have short sleeves and long sleeves!
$25 Yoga Leggings | runs TTS and comes in a ton of colors. These have thigh pockets which I LOVE for cell phones. Don’t sleep on these, worth every penny!
Honorable Mention | The kids pajamas I wish came in my size. Hudson literally has 4 pairs. SO soft and sweet!
Floral Maxi Dress | Runs TTS, still available in once size and gorgeous in person!
White Lace Top | I sized up once size and would recommend it. Gorgeous top in person – would definitely buy it again!
Silver Cross Jet Travel Stroller | This stroller is so compact it blows my mind. I’ve been so impressed with it so far, and I think if you’re on the go a lot, there is no easier stroller to travel with!
That’s it for July – making a note now to check back in at the end of August. I love seeing the pieces you guys are loving! Thanks so much for reading – XO –

– rearranging some bedside art (similar art here) –
– the many expressions of Hambone Hudson in a 5 minute period of his lunch –
– the most gorgeous floral arrangement from my girlfriend, Theresa –
– buying two of these blankets with the intention of sending back one, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to –
It’s the weekend! I am actually taking today off to have a mom day with my little guy, which I haven’t done in what feels like too long. I have some fun activities for us, but considering it’s going to be 100 degrees… I’m trying to keep us indoors to prevent too much exhaustion. When in doubt, I love playing giant Jenga and even setting the Jenga blocks up like bowling pins and rolling a mini soccer ball like it’s a bowling ball. They have proven multipurpose!
I was honored to be featured in this summer’s Mini Magazine in a little feature about becoming a mom and what that means to me. I have loved reading the other interviews in the issue, and find other mom’s advice and top picks really fascinating.
I’ve been trying to squeeze in one more workout per week, and let me tell you – the aftermath is what’s up. The hardest part of working out for a lot of us is just taking the time to get started. But once you’re in the middle of it, stretching and moving your body, the way you feel afterwards is everything. I’m trying to focus on those endorphins to stay consistent and just go down to the basement, turn on the TV and go for it. Always worth it!
Other than that, I’m just over here trying to water my plants without collapsing of heat stroke. How are you staying cool? Thank you so much for reading! XO –
Today is the first day of public access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The sale will continue through August 9, and from what I can see, once an item sells out it’s gone. So my recommendation would be to act quickly and know that you can return anything you don’t love at no cost.
I have shared the pieces I own and stand behind here along with ALL of my Nordstrom Sale picks here. So today I wanted to share the pieces I have bought so far along with the ones I’m still contemplating snagging (you’ll see a star displayed next to these items).
To shop, simply click directly on the item or find its associated number below the collage.
Every year I bought multiple pairs of this underwear (they also come in a higher waisted pair). They’re incredibly comfortable and this is the third year I’ve stocked up during the sale!
I know it’s basic, I KNOW. But these blankets always sell out before I can get my hands on one. I bought myself this one as a push present for the hospital when I had Hudson, and now our family fights over it. So I bought two more.
There has never been a year where I don’t snag the the 3-pack of Cashmere Mist deodorant. I am an actual addict, and I was scraping the barrel of my last mist. Thank the sweet Lord I got the 3-pack before it sold out!
I also grabbed these boots in suede and they’re so beautiful. A really flattering, loose style that flatters the leg.
I have my eye on these boots (love how high they are!) and these heels. I don’t need either, but dang. They are CHIC!
This tee also looks super comfortable and would be great with a little front tuck into jeans or denim shorts. I have a million white tees, but somehow new silhouettes always suck me in.
I have a mug addition, and it’s not healthy. For some reason, I always want to buy mugs and this one that stays warm has me intrigued. The reviews are so-so, but a CBL girl reached out to tell me she has one and loves it, so I’m back on the wagon!
If you’ve bought anything from the sale, I’d love to hear what you snagged! Thanks so much for reading and be sure to check out all the items I stand behind and ALL of my picks. XO –
